Fall Day Trips in the Tri-state Area

With the leaves starting to turn and the temperatures starting to drop, there’s no better time than now to plan a fall weekend getaway. Even if you only have a day or two to spend, there are plenty of sites only a few hours drive from The New Village that are worth visiting! If you’re thinking of heading out of Patchogue even for a day trip, check out some of the destinations below.

North Fork, Long Island – You don’t have to venture very far to get a different view of the fall season on Long Island! Head north and take the expressway east to check out some of the quaint, picturesque towns of Long Island’s North Fork. Visit Harbes Farm in Mattituck to pick your very own bushel of apples and pumpkins. While in the area, travel a bit further East to Peconic to make a stop at Pindar Vineyards. If you go on a weekend, you can sample some delicious wine while listening to live music.

Rail Explorers, Catskills, NY – Experience a whole new way of taking in the fall foliage with a Rail Explorers outing in the Catskills in upstate New York! Pedal your way on rail tracks aboard your Rail Explorer, a go-cart like device that is powered by pedaling. Take in the sights of the trail that runs alongside Esopus Creek from the quaint village of Phoenicia.  For more information and to reserve your ‘Rail Explorer’, check out the site below.

Pocono Mountains, Bushkill, PA- To truly take in the beauty of the fall season, head to Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania to visit the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation area.
