October on Long Island means plenty of food and drink
festivals to go around! This month, there are plenty of festivals taking place
in the greater Patchogue area, whether you enjoy seafood, chili and chowder, or
beer! Check out the events below taking place near The New Village.
Oktoberfest – Oktoberfest
isn’t over yet! Head over to The Snapper Inn in Oakdale to take part in one of
the last Oktoberfest events of the season! Taking place October 8th
from Noon to 4pm, the restaurant will be serving traditional German fare, such
as Bratwurst, Sauerbraten, Apple Strudel and more! There will be live Polka
music and an open bar option with draft beer, house liquors, and wine for $40.
Oyster Festival – The 34th annual Oyster Festival
of Oyster Bay is taking place this Saturday October 14th- Sunday,
October 25th at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park. Stop the
historic downtown area of Oyster Bay by to enjoy fresh seafood, soups and
chowders, carnival fare, and of course, oysters on the half shell! There is will
also be carnival rides, live music and entertainment, and an Oyster Shucking
and Eating contest. Afterwards, take a stroll along the water to take in the
beautiful views of the Long Island Sound.
Patchogue’s Chili and Chowder Festival – You don’t have to venture very far from
the New Village to take part in fun fall festivities! On Saturday October 21st,
the town of Patchogue is hosting it’s annual Chili and Chowder Festival right
on Main Street in town. The event will run from 10am-4pm, and will feature
tastings of a variety of chowders and different chilis. There will also be a
Farmer’s Market, street fare, pumpkin decorating, and pumpkin beer tasting for
$10 a person.
