might’ve missed the grand openings of some new eateries that have set up shop
in town. So put on your coat, bundle up, and brave the cold weather to check
out some of the new venues near New Village.
SmallCakes Cupcakery and Creamery- Do you have a sweet tooth?
If so, you’ll definitely want to check out SmallCakes Cupcakery & Creamery,
located just steps away from the New Village. SmallCakes, which only opened its
doors in early February, is making quite a name for itself in the local area
for providing fresh, delicious treats in a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
The shop, which specializes in gourmet cupcakes baked daily, as well as
small-batch, cupcake-infused ice cream, is a franchise that is owned and
operated by two native Long Islander, Stonybrook grads. Stop by to enjoy a
cupcake and to support their up-and-coming business!
Catch Oyster Bar- If you love seafood, you have to plan a
visit to the new Catch Oyster Bar, located at 63 N Ocean Avenue in Patchogue. This
father-son joint venture, which opened it’s doors only several weeks ago,
provides a casual, intimate dining experience for lovers of fish and shellfish.
Specialties include Lobster Rolls, Po Boys, South Shore Fish Stew, and of
course Oysters on the Half Shell.
Flight- The next time you’re looking to meet friends over
small plates and drinks, you should check out Flight, a small plate and
cocktail restaurant that specialized in new American cuisine. Although Flight
only opened its doors in January, the restaurant is growing to be quite popular,
due in part to its concept of flight plates. Similar to a beer flight when
sampling brews, flight plates provide a sampling of different foods, including
the Mac & Cheese Flight, Sliders Flight, and the Shrimp Flight Plate. With
this concept, you don’t have to choose just one entrée- you can get a taste of
it all!
