Harmony Cafe Coming Soon to Patchogue!

Long Island’s first not-for profit café will be opening soon right here in Patchogue! Residents will get the first taste and experience of Harmony Café, which will soon open in other Long Island locations as well. This start up predicted to turn into a local favorite aims at making sure everyone gets a meal. Their vision which you can read more about on their website, aims to bond a community together and serve everyone regardless of economic status with a “pay what you can afford-paying it forward” service slogan.

The café will aim to use all organic and unprocessed fresh foods.  To keep this effort up and successful they anticipate their menu changing weekly to reflect in seasonal local produce. What you can expect to stay consistent is the format of their menu. On a daily basis there will be a choice of two or three soups for customers to choose from, salads, sandwiches and entrees. Desserts and breads will also be sold. Refreshing flavored water, iced tea, coffee and lemonade are the beverages you can expect to find and pair with your meal.

Portion size options are another unique service this café will provide to customers. To help customers pick what is right for them whether it be health or preference and also to eliminate food waste, the café will allow you to customize the portion of your meal. Since this is all on a pay as you wish basis, the café trusts that customers will be fair in the monetary exchange for the food and service they provide the community. There will be a suggested price for each item off their menu, but customers are not obligated to pay that price. Options include paying what you can afford, paying by giving your time in service or paying a little extra to pay it forward and help others in the community who can’t afford to enjoy a meal. You can also pay their stated suggested price for your purchase as well.

Events will also be held through Harmony Café once they are opened! Their first fundraising event is set for September of this year.
