Plan a Perfect Holiday Getaway to the North Shore

If you dream of being in The Great Gatsby, then taking a trip to Long Island’s North Shore will be a dream come true.  Just a quick 45-minute trip from Patchogue and the luxurious New Village apartments, Long Island’s North Shore is filled with stunningly expansive beaches, immaculate homes and peaceful serenity. The scenic journey makes for an ideal and accessible winter getaway.

Nicknamed the “Gold Coast” for its history of expansively wealthy residents, the north coast of Long Island includes the towns of Huntington, Oyster Bay, and North Hempstead. Most significantly, the area is known as the setting of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, The Great Gatsby. The North Shore villages of Sands Point and Kings Point are represented in the novel as “West Egg” and “East Egg.”
It is also the one time home of the private estates of the Roosevelts, Vanderbilts, and J.P Morgan, and many of the former millionaire mansions have been turned over for public use. The beaches of the North Shore tend to be bit more rocky and hilly than those of southern Long Island, but are still every bit pristine and breathtaking.
The North Shore is peppered with delicious restaurants many of which have perfect waterfront views. Check out Prime Restaurant and Tutto Pazo  in Huntington for great food and unforgettable views of the Long Island Sound. There are also several lodging options on the North Shore, and visitors can choose from quaint Bed and Breakfasts, upscale resorts and friendly hotels.
Some of the fantastic holiday events in north coast this year include 18th Annual Charles Dickens Festival where the seaport town of Port Jefferson will turn into a Charles Dickens stage, Shrek The Musical and Frosty the Snowman at the Broadhallow Theatre, Huntington’s Annual Historic Holiday House Tour as well as a winter concert in Huntington.
