Beware: customers of the Roast Coffee and Tea Trading Company on Main Street in Patchogue could ingest enough caffeine at the shop to allow them to run to New York City and back in less than an hour. Some would call that a superhero-like ability, employees at Roast Coffee would call that a typical Monday. The quaint and easily navigable coffee shop (located less than 10 minutes away from New Village apartments) is a microroaster that uses mostly premium single origin beans from several countries.
The menu is simple but expansive with customers being able to choose from a variety of coffees available and processed through several different brewing techniques including a French press, clever and Chemex. The benefit of choosing these brewing methods is that it tends to distill coffee down to its purest form without losing any of the integrity of the beans. In top of the tasty coffee, the trading company also offers an array of espresso-based drinks such including delectable lattes and macchiatos.
In September, the store also an unveiled a series of seasonal autumn drinks like a caramel apple cider, maple mocha, and of course the perennial favorite pumpkin pie latte made with real pumpkin, nutmeg and cinnamon and tastes like a combination of Thanksgiving and hope. Rounding out the menu is one of the most eclectic assortment of teas of all flavors. Try the red Oz made with organic rooibos and lemon myrtle, coffee cherry, dried cherries from a coffee tree and buccaneer, a coconut, chocolate and vanilla blend that packs the flavor of a box of chocolates doused in pina colada.
