Celebrate Community at Patchogue Theatre!

For the aspiring and successful artist, dreams can come true on Main Street. Located in downtown Patchogue and only a block away from the New Village apartments, the not-for-profit Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts is a cavalcade of artistic expression for local and traveling performers. The façade of the building looks both historic and modern, and harkens back to the earlier days of localized community art houses. It is a perfect place for a date night or for anyone looking to catch a glimpse of the native artistic culture.

The theatre is also a place where the community has a say in that the taxpayers of Patchogue actually own the space. The §501 (c) (3) art house was abandoned until 1996 when the local community decided to renovate the space. It was re-opened in 1998 featuring a high-tech sound system and a Broadway caliber lighting system. According to their website, the mission of the Patchogue Theatre is to, “Preserve one of Long Island’s historic landmarks as a leading cultural theatre by presenting a broad spectrum of national and international performing artists.”

The theatre continues to host a boisterous and eclectic mix of performers, with everything from musicals to orchestras, to popular contemporary artists to the Miss Long Island pageant. Some of the major events coming up in August will be the popular music Annie Jr, in October will be The World Famous Glen Miller Orchestra, and in November, the famed acoustic troubadour Martin Sexton will be making an appearance at the Patchogue.
