The start of December means the start of the holiday season
here in Patchogue! There plenty of events taking place in the local area to get
you in the holiday spirit. There’s even a holiday tree lighting on the Village
Green at New Village that you won’t want to miss! Read below for more
information about this event and other events taking place over the next few
weeks.
Holiday Tree Lighting on the Village Green – Taking place
right in your own backyard, New Village will be hosting its Holiday Tree
lighting on the Village Green on Saturday, December 2nd. The
ceremony will start at 5:30pm where attendees can enjoy holiday treats and
carolers. The lighting will kick off at 6:30pm and will also include a visit
from Santa! Stick around after the tree lighting for an outdoor showing of the
Polar Express. There will also be a Toys for Tots collection at the event; if
you would like to participate, please bring an unwrapped toy for a donation.
The Nutcracker at The Staller Center- This season, enjoy the
holiday classic “The Nutcracker” performed by the Seiskaya Ballet at Stony
Brook University’s Staller Center. The performance choreographed by
world-renowned Russian-born choreographer Valia Seiskaya returns to Long Island
once again for six performances this month. Performances will run from Friday,
December 15 – Monday, December 18th. Tickets start at $40 per adult.
Holiday Light Show at Jones Beach- The “Magic of Lights”
holiay light show returns to Jones Beach once again for the holiday season! Visit
Jones Beach State park to enjoy 2.5 miles of festive light displays set to
holiday music favorites. After you drive through the display, stroll the
holiday festival village and enjoy a cup of coffee or hot chocolate! You can
even take part in the festive hay maze, or take pictures with Santa. The light
show will take place from November 17 – December 31; hours are from dusk – 10pm
Sunday through Thursday, and dusk – 11pm Friday and Saturday. Vehicle passes
are $20 if you purchase in advance online.
