Outdoor Activities in Patchogue for Summer

With the weather heating up, it’s the perfect time of year to spend some time outside to explore all the activities that the greater Patchogue area has to offer. Next time you get a beautiful spring day, consider checking out one of the activities below, which are located just minutes away from the New Village.

Biking at Heckscher State Park- Get your bike out for a relaxing ride at Heckscher State Park, located only 20 minutes from your New Village apartment. Enjoy four miles of paved, multi-use trails where you can take in the scenery of the Great South Bay and Fire Island. While there, enjoy a packed lunch at one of the many picnic tables located on the grounds. If you don’t have a bike to bring there yourself, consider renting from Long Island Bicycles Inc., a local rental shop on Main St. in town.

Paddleboarding at Long Island SUP- Haven’t had the opportunity to try out the paddleboarding trend? Now is the perfect time to try the activity with Long Island SUP, a paddleboarding rental shop located in East Patchogue. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced, Long Island Stand Up Paddleboarding offers a number of board renting options that you can take right out into the bay from their rental shop. Rentals start at $15 per hour and half day pricing (4 hours) is $40.

Kayaking with Captain Kayak- Whether you to enjoy a few hours out on the water or if you’re heading out for some kayaking fishing, Captain Kayak has a variety of kayaks available to rent. Located on Brown’s River in Sayville, you can take your kayak right into the river from the rental shop, which feeds into the bay. Rentals start at $30 an hour and if you rent for three hours, you get the fourth free.
