The leaves are changing colors and the air is crisp- it’s
officially Autumn on Long Island. Take part in the Fall festivities that the
Patchogue area has to offer during these October weekends.
Patchogue Fall, Chili
& Chowder Festival
Patchogue’s
Fall Festival on Main Street is taking place Saturday, October 15th
from 12:00pm-5:00pm. Though much of the festival is dedicated to family-fun
activities such as pumpkin decorating and face painting, there will also be a
chili and chowder contest in conjunction with the festival. Stop by to sample
some of these dishes from local restaurants and eateries while enjoying some live
music.
Apple Picking
Take part in one of Long Island’s favorite fall past times
by going apple picking out East! Head up to the North Fork to have your
selection of orchards to visit and do your picking. Harbes Family Farm and Orchard in
Riverhead offers apple picking for $8 every weekend in October from 9am-6pm.
While there, stop by their farm stand to enjoy wine, homemade apple turnovers
and apple-cider donuts! If you’d like to go apple picking but would also like
to pick up other fruits and vegetables, than you should check out Lewin Farms in Calverton. In addition to
picking apples, you can also self-pick raspberries, peaches, peppers,
eggplants, and pumpkins. And if you’re up for a challenge, be sure to check out
their 5-acre corn maze!
Visit the Vineyards
Before it starts getting too cold, you should plan a trip to
visit some of Long Island’s vineyards. Dispersed along the North and South
Fork, Long Island’s wine country is home to more than 30 wineries that create
popular blends and single varietals including merlot, cabernet sauvignon among
the reds, and chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, and Riesling among the white
varietals. Although you can do the exploring yourself, arranging a wine tour
provides transportation and allows you to visit multiple wineries in one trip.
Most wine tours include lunch and multiple tastings at each of the 3-4
vineyards you will visit. To plan your wine tour before the season ends, check
our tours offered by East End

Wine Tours Long Island to name a few!
