“Honey House” Poker Pub Crawl for a Good Cause

You’ve probably heard the news, got very sad about it, and then moved on. We’re talking about SantaCon and its sudden cancellation late last year. Now, all those who want to do a socially acceptable pub crawl will have to wait until St. Patrick’s Day... or do they? Rejoice casual drinkers on the prowl for a good time! There is something better and it’s called the “Honey House” Poker Pub Crawl right here in Patchogue.

What makes this event so special?

Well, for one, it's taking place extremely soon. On January 25th, it will commence at Harbor Crab Co. Restaurant and Marina located on 116 Division St., at 1 PM. More so, the event is actually for a very good cause. Organized to benefit Brian Ilg, an 8-year-old boy with a debilitating skin disorder from Patchogue, it was created by three Stony Brook University Hospital nurses in an attempt to raise $45,000. The money will go to the creation of a portable medical treatment unit for Ilg, who suffers from Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (DEB).

According to U.S. National Library of Medicine, “Epidermolyis bullosa, is a group of genetic conditions that cause the skin to be very fragile and to blister easily. DEB is one of the major forms of epidermolysis bullosa… Severe cases of this condition involve widespread blistering that can lead to vision loss, disfigurement, and other serious medical problems.”

So, what this essentially means is that you get to drink while benefiting someone in need. Toasting to “Health” just took on a whole new meaning. Same day registration for the event is $30 and takes place from 1 - 2:30 PM at Harbor Crab Co., only minutes from the New Village apartments. Early registration is $30 and includes Drink Specials, which are sure to come in handy at the crawl. So have fun and drink responsibly!
