With the start of fall quickly approaching, now is the time
to take advantage of outdoor workout opportunities while its still warm!
September in Patchogue is the perfect time to take your sweat-session outside
with the cooler temperatures. Explore some of the activities taking place near
the New Villlage below to get some inspiration.
Biking at Hecksher State Park – With the cooler temperatures
and decreasing humidity, now is the perfect time to break out your bike for a
workout! Head over to Hecksher Park in East Islip for a leisurely 4.5-mile
ride. Take in the views of the Great South Bay as you cycle through the paved
paths of the park. Turn up your gears for a more intense workout on this
relatively flat course.
Long Island SUP – You may have tried your hand at stand up
paddleboarding, but are you ready to kick it up a notch with SUPFit classes?
Offered at Long Island SUP in East Patchogue, instructors teach toning and
strengthening moves while maintaining your balance on the open water. If you
can’t make it when these classes are offered, you can always try this SUP
strengthening circuit from SELF Magazine.
Yoga in the Park – For a more relaxed and reflective workout,
be sure to check out Yoga in the Park at Shorefront Park starting Saturday,
September 15th. Family yoga will be held from 9:30am – 10:15 am and
a gentle vinyasa flow class will take place from 10:20 am – 11:30 am. Classes
are free and will take place Saturdays in September and October. It is
recommended that you bring your own yoga mat or towel.
