Although Thanksgiving may still be a few weeks away, it’s
the perfect time to get involved in charity and volunteer work ahead of the
holiday season. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the local
Patchogue community, many of which are located near the New Village.
Toys for Tots- The Marine Toys for Tots Organization seeks
to provide every child with a special toy of his or her own during the holiday
season. As the holiday season quickly approaches, now is the perfect time to
make a donation of a new, unwrapped toy to your local drop off site. In the
Patchogue area, you can drop off your toy donation at Pep Boys Auto Plus,
Sherwin Williams, the SV Professional Center, or the Village Cigar
Headquarters. To learn more or to organize your own toy drive, please visit the
site below.
Meals on Wheels Long Island- This holiday season, help
deliver home cooked meals to homebound, handicapped, chronically ill, or
convalescent people in the local community who aren’t able to prepare their own
food. By partnering with Three Village Meals on Wheels based in Stonybrook, you
can help be part of the effort to provide over 26,500 meals per year for
clients who live in the greater Brookhaven Township. Get involved and learn
more at the link below.
Island Harvest – It’s the busiest time of the year for
Island Harvest, one of Long Island’s largest food banks that helps to provide
food and meals to less fortunate families in the local Patchogue area. To give
back this holiday season, Island Harvest is seeking food donations of many
kinds, whether it be non-perishable items, turkeys, or even supermarket
giftcards. Bethpage Federal Credit Union is running a food drive on Friday,
Nov. 17th if you’d like to participate. You can also drop items off
at one of the locations listed at the link below.
