Spring Activities in Patchogue

It’s officially spring in Patchogue! The snow is melted and the weather is finally starting to warm up. Ditch your winter hibernation mode to take part in some of the fun spring activities happening in the local Patchogue area. Check out the listings below to take part in the seasonal festivities taking place near The New Village.

Gardening Classes and Tutorials – Have you ever wanted to grow your own plants or have your own garden but don’t quite know where to start? Check out the Gardening for Beginners class offers at the Patchogue Medford Library in town. From 1:30pm – 3:30pm on Sunday, April 22nd,  you’ll learn the basics of gardening from Long Island Harvest’s Community Garden Coordinator. There’s no better time to learn to garden than the spring where you can put your ideas into action!

Earth Day Beach to Breach Hike – It’s fitting that Earth Day is celebrated in the spring when we can witness the growth of plants and wildlife around us. To commemorate the day and spend some time outdoors, take part in the Earth Day Beach to Breach Hike, hosted by the Wilderness Visitor Center in Shirley. Explore Fire Island’s dynamic shore on this free, guided hike to the wilderness breach and back. The hike is 3 miles total roundtrip.

Merrick Spring Festival – Spend some time outside browsing different kiosks and vendor offerings at the annual Merrick Spring Festival, taking place Saturday, April 28 – Sunday, April 29 from 10am – 6pm. Stop by to interact and buy directly from dozens of established artisans and high-quality craft and gift vendors. Maybe you’ll even find a potential gift item for Mother’s Day next month!
