Outdoor Fitness in the Greater Patchogue Area

Take advantage of the last weeks of this beautiful Long Island summer and take your fitness routine outdoors! There are plenty of activities happening in the greater Patchogue area that will get you active outside. So next time you’re looking for a different workout then the fitness center at The New Village, check out one of the activities below.

Yoga on the Beach- If you want to spend some time at the beach this weekend and get in your exercise before hand, you should check out Morning Yoga on the Beach at Robert Moses State Park. Hosted by Yoga with Cyndy at Field 2 at Robert Moses, you can start your weekend right with gentle yoga flow while listening to the sounds of the ocean. Choose from three classes every Saturday morning through September.

Stand-up Paddleboarding at Long Island SUP- One of Long Island’s favorite water activities is also a great way to get some exercise. By balancing on the paddle in the currents of the Great South Bay, you can engage you engage your core and leg muscles to build strength overtime. Biking at Cathedral Pines- To take in the beauty of one of Suffolk County’s parks while also getting a workout, consider biking at Cathedral Pines County Park, located in Middle Island. This 320-acre park is situated along the headwaters of the Carmans river, and contains up to 8 miles of trail for cycling and biking on tougher terrain. You can bike for free on weekdays, and on weekends, park entry is $7 for Green Key Card holders, or $15 for general entry.
