Volunteer Opportunities near New Village at Patchogue

It always feels good to give back to your community through volunteer work. Whether you take interest in animal welfare, providing food for the hungry, or contributing to programs for families and children in need, there are many ways to get involved in community service efforts in the Patchogue area. To help give you some ideas, we’ve selected a list of some upcoming events and organizations that you may want to get involved with.

If you have a soft spot in your heart for animals in need, then the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter may be a place you’d like to donate your time.  Dedicated to helping homeless dogs and cats in the township, the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter provides shelter for pets in need, and also partners with private humane societies and other organizations to provide veterinary care and training programs. If you’d like to get involved and volunteer at the shelter, please click here to learn more.

If you take interest to helping the less fortunate in your area, you may want to check out the Patchogue Neighbors Inn. The Inn’s mission is to feed hungry and homeless Long Islanders by offering different meals each day of the week. The Patchogue Neighbors Inn operates out of five locations in the Patchogue area, and each location is looking to add volunteers to their food preparation and serving teams. If you would like to take part in the Patchogue Neighbor’s cause, click here for more information.

If you’d like to contribute to programs for children in need in your area, you should check out the RECESS Program with the Family Services League of Suffolk County. As a therapeutic recreation program for emotionally disturbed children, RECESS encourages education, skill building, and learning functional responsibilities through organized sports and games. If you’d like to learn more about the RECESS Program, click here.
