South Shore Activities near Patchogue

One of the best things about the summer in Patchogue is the amount of activities there are to do involving the sun and sand. Spend one of these upcoming weekends exploring the coast and checking out these sights!

Cap Tree State Park
Head over to Cap Tree State Park, right off the Robert Moses Causeway, for a day of fun out on the water. Cap Tree is home to the largest fishing fleet on Long Island, and include open boats, fishing boats, sightseeing boats, and dive boats. If fishing is your thing, the fishing charters go out multiple times each day, and your ride includes bait and fishing equipment! For more information, check out the
site.

If you'd rather stay on land, you can also go crabbing right of the dock, as Cap Tree is well known crabbing spot! Bring your crap traps and nets, but be sure to follow New York State crabbing
regulations

Fire Island Beach and Boardwalk
Go to Robert Moses Field 5 and park to the furthest right lot. If you're up for a hike to the island, enter Robert Moses State Park Field 5 and park to the furthest right lot. Follow the trail off the parking lot to make your way to the Fire Island lighthouse. Walk all the way to the top for a beautiful view of Fire Island, the Great South Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean. Get back on the trail to make your way to Kismet, a quaint beach community on Fire Island. Enjoy time at the beach here, or keep walking to make your way to the popular Ocean Beach!

An alternative to the hike, and most common way to get to the island, is to take the Fire Island Ferry from either Sayville or Bayshore! The ferry will bring you right to Ocean Beach, where you can explore restaurants, bars, and boutiques. Check out the different ferry schedules
here.
